Aujourd’hui rubrique lecture, un roman lu par ma grande ado.
The Prom le roman, paru le 12 novembre 2020, de Saundra Mitchell avec Bob Martin, Chad Beguelin et Matthew Sklar, chez Pocket Jeunesse. Le roman inspiré du musical de Broadway à découvrir sur Netflix à la fin de l’année.
Elles voulaient juste aller au bal, pas créer un scandale.
Résumé :
Avant de terminer le lycée, Emma Nolan ne souhaite plus qu’une seule chose : danser avec sa copine au bal de promo. Or, dans sa petite ville bigote du fin fond des Etats-Unis, tout le monde ne voit pas ça d’un bon oeil. Alyssa, fille la plus populaire de son lycée, risquerait énormément si elle dévoilait qu’elle sortait avec Emma. Quand la petite ville apprend qu’Emma veut avoir une cavalière au bal, c’est le tollé : un groupe d’opposition se forme, sous la direction de la mère d’Alyssa, dans le but de faire annuler l’événement ! Par chance, cette histoire arrive aux oreilles de deux stars de comédie musicale qui prennent l’affaire très au sérieux et débarquent à Edgewater, dans l’Indiana pour prendre les choses en main…
L’autrice construit, grâce à sa personnalité forte et positive, un récit vibrant d’espoir et d’énergie.
Son avis : elle l’a trouvé trop utopiste et irréaliste. Surtout dans le fait qu’il serait improbable que deux stars viennent s’intéresser à cette histoire dans une petite ville perdue aux Etats-Unis. Mais elle a tout de même aimé sa lecture 
Et vous, vos enfants lisent ? avez-vous des thèmes de lecture favoris ?
Je n’ai pas encore vu ce film sur Netflix, pourtant il aurait tout pour me plaire.
La Miss est dans une période mangas en ce moment. Et elle lit aussi les Cinq Mondes.
